The seasonal fluctutations in TON of reservoir water was closed related to the numbers of actinomycetes and certain types of phytoplankton. The low TON (1.8~3.0)of reservoir water and low numbers of actinomycetes( below 100 cells/ml)and phytoplankton water and low numbers of phytoplankton (64~1031 cells/ml)were found in Spring; however, a fishy odor-producing green algae and the musty odor-producing blue green algae as well as actinomycetes were in highest number while the highest TON with blue green algae、green algae and actinomycetes were 0.59、 0.55 and 0.36, respectively. About Cheng-Ching lake, during the one year aeration treatment the lowest threshold odor number(TON)of 1.6 was in March while the highest TON of 10.4 was in August. The seasonal fluctutations in TON of reservoir water was closed related to the numbers of actinomycetes .The correlation cofficient between TON of reservoir water and the numbers of actinomycetes was 0.84;it showed there were high related between both them. Therefore, the aeration treatment of raw water just changed the types of nutrient but can not significantly reduce the growth of odor-producing microorganisms and odor problem in this reservoir.
