The pig waste compost、acidic peat、neutral peat and neutral peat seeding with activated sludge were used as the materials of biofilter. For hydrogen sulfide removing experiments,it has shown that acidic peat biofilter was not apparent biological reaction under the loading of 0.16-1.35g-S/ day.kg dry peat during 100 days operation period time. The adsorption capacity of hydrogen sulfide,sulfate conversion rate and hydrogen sulfide removal efficiency were found at 0.16g-S 、0.25g-S/day.kg dry peat and 50%,respectively. For ammonia removing experiments,the compost biofilter was breakthrough at the 20th day of operation time under the loading of 0.25g-N/day. kg dry compost. The conversion of ammonium nitrogen and organic nitrogen were 0.106 and 1.64g-N/day.kg dry compost, respectively. For the other three biofilters,the acidic peat biofilter was the best removing capacity of ammonia,and its removal efficiency could arrive to 100%. For mixed hydrogen sulfide and ammonia removing experiments, under the inlet concentration rate of hydrogen sulfide and ammonia was 1:10,the loading of ammonia (0.375g-N) and hydrogen sulfide(0.071g-S)/ day.kg dry compost condition,the ammonia was breakthrough on 23th day,and the conversion of ammonium nitrogen and organic nitrogen were 0.27 and 1.56g-N/day.kg dry compost respectively. Furthermore,for the acidic peat biofilter,the loading of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide were raised to 0.86g-N and 0.16g-S/ day.kg dry peat on the 23th day after treatment.The conversion of ammonium nitrogen and organic nitrogen by acidic peat were 0.12g-N and 0.23g-N/day.kg dry peat,respectivily.
