碩士 === 淡江大學 === 大陸研究所 === 83 === My study will discuss the non-wage labor cost for foreign- owned enterprises in Mainland China. And try to put Chinese state enterprises, foreign-owned enterprises in Mainland China and manufacturing industries from Taiwanese enterprises in comparison. We could find out whether the labor cost is lower or not, and how low it is? I also try to make these datas more practical by visiting some individual cases. Following are my conclusion, 1.For Taiwanese investor, try to reduce the production cost by lower wage is the major inducement to invest in Mainland China. 2.Although the wage is relatively lower in Mainland China, it could not be neglected that non-wage cost still takes more than 50% wage cost. 3.It will be more practical to put labor productivity into the calculation of labor cost. 4.For Taiwanese enterprises, Mainland China is a superior environment for wage and labor consideration in compare with Southeast Asia. 5.Due to the non-wage factor and inefficiency, the reduction in labor cost are not so ideal as Taiwanese investors'' original estimation.
