Being analyzed, the achieved results are as the following. (1)The priority of the importance of the modernization dimensions ranks as Politics, Economy, Social Phenomenon, Knowledge and Individual Psychology.(2)Comparing the modernity reflected by media with the modernity of occidental modernization theory, the dimensions of Economy and Knowledge tend to be the same. Beside, Social Phenomenon and individual Psychology are partially the same. On the other hand, the most apparent differentiation exists in the dimension of Politics since it is expressed that the goal of the dominant position of Communist Party is to be maintained.(3)Newspapers and the officials of the Party and Government are well-matched in the process of the modernization in Mainland China. In 1970s, Rogers an dthe other scholars have regarded Mainland China as the model of Participatory Communication Mould. It is because that people have participated widely in the process of moderni- zation. However, this conclusion is not applicable after the "Change and Open" Policy has been executed. The result of this research finds that there is only partial space for people to participate. It also shows that this socialism country, Mainland China, is a modernization mould planned and controlled by Com- munist Party. Song-in Wang 王嵩音 1995 學位論文 ; thesis 188 zh-TW
