The thesis will first discuss the origins of perestroika under Gorbachev,as well as how Gorbachev rethinks socialism. The thesis will then examine the process of perestroika, in order to understand how glasnost and democratization have feedback? The meanings of perestroika policy will also be dicussed. and further discusses the interations between political and economic reform. The thesis will last analyse the results of perestroika. Does perestroika have any effect on Soviet historical development? In conclusion, Soviet Political transition takes it's way into populist authoritarian. Economic system transition is plan- oriented mixed economy.
