Seventy-two students from an elementary school were selected as the subjects of this study. The experimental group consists of 36 students who attended a sixteen-week PFC, while the control group consists of 36 students who received no instruction in PFC. The data obtainted were analyzed by ANCOVA. Major findings of this study were as follows: 1.Critical thinking ability of the experimental group is significantly higher than that of the control group. 2.Reading comprehension ability of the experiment group is not significantly higher than that of the control group. 3.The exeperimental group likes the course of the PFC.
