speed pattern are more than can be listed. Even for those
events in which timing is a record, speed is still a
significant training item. Two instances out of many are the
running pace in board jump and the batting speed in baseball
game. Therefore, a system that can measure a variety of speed
patterns is developed in order for different kinds of sports.
In the system to be implemented, laser is utilized to detect
the accurate arrival time of the object through a point; to
avoid the wires all over the field, telemetry is applied to
transmit the arrival time signal to the Notebook computer;
finally, the Notebook computer calculates the velocity and
acceleration of the runner in a real time manner, and it also
can save and display the running message with its powerful
data processing capability. For example, a window program is
used to simplify the operation procedure which largely
increase the flexibility and convenience in use of the system.
The whole system comprises various technologies with friendly
user''s interface, and it could become a very useful tool and
instrument for athletics and coaches in the training process.
