Systematics of Taiwanese Hynobius Species

碩士 === 國立臺灣師範大學 === 生物學系 === 84 === Abstract The purpose of this study is to examine that five different color pattern hynobiid salamanders of Taiwan, that is, kuanwu type, arisan type, nanhu type, nankao I type, nankao II type, are different species. We use morphology and allozyme approach. In morphological approach, we measured 8 morphometric characters and ten other characters. Morphometric principle component analysis (PCA) results show that there are little morphometric differences between Taiwanese species, even out- group. This may dew to wide habitat variation. Other characters show significant difference between these different color- patterned salamanders, including no. of maxilla-premaxilla teeth, no. of dentary teeth, no. of vomerine teeth, no. of vomerine lateral branch teeth, fifth toe type. This kind of differences indicates that different color pattern salamanders are different species. In allozyme approach, we used 13 enzymes and obtained 25 loci. Analysis of allozyme data reveals a high d We suggest that there are five species of Hynobius in Taiwan, including three named species and two new species. They are Hynobius sp1. distribute in shehshan mountain region, Hynobius sp2. distribute in shehshan and central mountain region; Hynobius sonani distribute in central mountain region; Hynobius formosanus distribute in Central mountain region; Hynobius arisanensis distribute in Alisan, Yushan and Central mountain region.
