ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to understand the
priority order of the cogit-ating factors of taking the course
of Physical Education of senior students inTaiwan, and to
compare the differences of the cogitating factors of senior
stud-ents of different backgrounds( male / female, national /
private, university /college, grades of the course in the
previous years), When taking the course ofPhysical Education.
The subjects of this study are 1,138 senior students of colleges
and unive-rsities in Taiwan which offer the course of Physical
Education who have takenthe course in the 1995 - 96 Academic
Year. A 〞Questionnaire of the CogitatingFactors of Taking the
Course of Physical Education of Senior Students in Taiwan〝 was
distributed and retrieved. The data obtained were processed with
Indepen-dent Sample t-Test , one-way ANOVA , and Scheff’e
test were utilized for dataanalysis. The findings are as the
followi:1. The priority order of the cogitating factors of
taking the course of PhysicalEducation of senior students are:
(a)Teachers,(b)Course Contents,(c)Facil-ities and
Equipment,(d)Experiences in Interest-election,(e)Course
Objectives,(f)Experiences in Grades Gained, and(g)Fun in the
Sports.2. In the degrees of importnce in the cogitting fctors of
taking the course ofPhysical Education, a significant
difference exists between the male and femaleseniors.3. In the
degrees of importnce in the " Course Contents " in taking the
courseof Physical Education, a significant difference exists
between the senior stude-nts of the national and those of the
private ones.4. In the degrees of importnce in " Course
Objectives , " " Experiences inInterest-election," "
Facilities and Equipment," " Teachers," " Course Contents,"a
significant difference exists between the senior students of the
universitiesand those of colleges.5. In the degrees of
importnce in " Course Objectives, " " Experiences inInterest-
election," " Experiences in Grades Gained, " a significant
differenceexists among the students who have gained different
grades in the previous years.
