In this thesis, instead of mathematical models, we try to establish the fuzzy model to describe nonlinear systems according to their input-output data. Then the qualitative model is constructed based on the definition of fuzzy variables so that the behavior and characteristics of systems can be analyzed accordingly. The procedure is as follows : firstly, the mountain clustering method and the back-propagation method are applied to establish the fuzzy model of systems. The fuzzy c- means method is subsequently used to define the membership function of the fuzzy variables. Secondly, the fuzzy model is converted to the qualitative model described by fuzzy variables to derive the qualitative description of systems.
