In this approach, the object- oriented method and conceptual model are used to build the prototype of the target system. Integrated with the Petri Net model and the expansion rules, the target system can be built completely. The smallest unit of the target system is called software-IC. The major characteristic of this approach is to build the specification of the target system with the help of using software-IC. The error rate of building the specification can be greatly reduced. In accordance, the cost of software maintenance can be reduced. There are two major contributions of this thesis. First, a method is provided to built the fast prototype of the target system. The communication gap between the user and software developer can be reduced. With the expansion rules used in this these, a complete system can be built as soon as possible. The time to develop a new system can be reduced. Second, the concept of object engine is proposed. This concept is useful to provide the insulation of the data transferred between software element. In accordance, each software element in the target system is more independently. The error rate of software development and the cost of software maintenance can be decreased by using this concept.
