Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 資訊管理研究所 === 84 === Knowing how to use an information system well is as important as ensuring that the information system is designed well. We use a case study approach to propose a system benefit evaluation model to assess the tangible and intangible benefits of a machine repair expert system. The results can provide a basis for the decisions made during system development and implementation. In our research, we use a computer simulation method to calculate the tangible benefits of using the expert system and to study their sensitivity to different input parameters. We also apply a well-known marketing research method, conjoint analysis, to evaluate the relative value of the tangible and intangible benefits of the expert system. Finally, we combine the two methods to develop an integrated model of machine repair expert system evaluation. The results of the case study indicate that the case expert system will contribute a great cost saving while adding intangible benefits as well. We have not yet seen any research using conjoint analysis to evaluate benefits of information systems in our country. This is the first attempt to quantify the intangible benefits of information systems through conjoint analysis. The case company verified that the results of our research provide a realistic index of system benefits. The development of this kind of evaluation model warrants further research.
