Due to the existence of the uncertainty in risk analysis, the cost of the remediation is often mis- estimated. In this study, statistical methods were applied to analyze the uncertainty in the risk assessment, including Monte Carlo method to estimate the parameters and geostatistical technology to quantify the spatial variation of contaminant concentration. Hazard assessment concerning the hazardous volatile organics in air of San-In Bridge hazardous waste site was performed. The estimates of intake rate with Monte Carlo method showed that the intake from the multiplication of the 90th percentile parameters could be 1.5 times of the 90th percentile intake from overall model prediction. When the uncertainty from the spatial variation of contaminant concentration had to be considered, suitable positions of sampling points could be located with geostatistic methods. By the same way, the spatail distribution of contaminant concentration could be described including the contaminant concentration in unsampled region. Spatial risk distributions in different situations is presented. Under typical contamination situations and 90th percentile residents, the carcinogenic risk exceeds 1 * 10 -4 in more than two third of the area. The hazardous index of noncarcinogenic risk under same situation including the area, where the residents are mostly active, is below 1. From the results of risk assessment, it can be concluded that the carcinogenic potential in this site is quite high, so, it is really of great urgency to set the site remediation into action.
