The significant contribu- tions of the study are : (1)the identification of the dynamic mechanical characteristics of high damping rubber bearings; investigation of energy dissipation stability of high damping bearings; (3)the evaluation of the appropriateness of equivalent linear models specified by the American Association of State and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and Japanese Public Works Research Institute (PWRI) in predicting the seismic responses of high damping rubber bearings; and (4)the establishment of two lysis models using a system identification method and the Kelvin model,respectively.
