Description
Summary:碩士 === 文化大學 === 觀光事業學系 === 84 === This study attempts to investigate the cost structure for international tourist hotels in Taiwan by using Translog cost functions. Translog cost functions are specified using annual income as the output level, labor, material, fuel, and others as the input factors, and rooms as the fixed input factor. It is found that the concave in factor price Wi of the cost structure couldn''t be satisfied. It implies that the operation of international tourist hotels is not a cost-minimization behavior. Own-price demand elasticities for the input factors are more than zero. It means that when the price of input factors increases, international tourist hotels won''t decrease quantities of input factors for maintaining the service level and competition power. Cross-price demand elasticities and the Allen''s and price elasticities show that the material and fuel, fuel and others have substitute relationship. There is a mutual benefit relationship between others & fuel, and others & material in five-star international tourist hotels, and so is fuel & others in four-star international tourist hotels. Output elasticities are 3.434 and 3.131. It means the increasing percentage of cost is more than output. The averages of shorten economies of scale are 0.291 and 0.319. It shows the diseconomy of international tourist hotels.
