Description
Summary:碩士 === 東海大學 === 建築學系 === 84 === Student union is an important public space in many university campuses.Since there are few attentions given to this building type in Taiwan, the studyattempts to do an in-depth case study, that is, the student union of Soochow university, mainly by method of field survey. The theory of "behavior setting" initiated Roger G. Barker is taken as the essential conceptual framework forhandling the case. The first-hand field data about each space's usage and various background imformation of the building as whole are gathered. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part describes the evolution of Soochow university's campus, and the role of student union in it. The second part analyzes the existing condition and situation of the building and its usage pattern. The units of behavior setting and their characteristics are identified. Then their us age are evaluated by different criteria. The impacts it gives the whole campus as its ecological environment are also investigated. Finally, many practical suggestions relating to each space and the whole building are proposed for future renovation and management. The theory behavior setting is also reconsidered to be a more useful tool for the P.O.E. in the field of architecture study.
