碩士 === 大同工學院 === 資訊工程學系 === 84 === Shape design is an important task in CAD/CAM/CAID.
Traditionally, this is achieved by manipulating the control
points of the free form surfaces (e.g., NURBS). Such a
methodology can be quite tedious and non-intuitive. Besides,
the perfection of such technique requires a strong background of
geometry and mathematics, which industrial designer often lack.
This research proposes a new shape design paradigm. After
reviewing many shape design methods in CAD and modeling
literature, we propose a new shape design paradigm. This method
uses minimum energy principle to control the shape of the
object. This enables the designer to use intuitive tools to
modify the shape of the objects. B-spline is widely used in CAD
and animation. One focus of this research is that we intended
to work on the B-spline representation . With this, the research
can directly benefit the CAD/CAM community (besides CG/
animation/multimedia). This research also intends to combine
aspects of force feedback from virtual reality. The designer
can not only see the deformed, but also can haptically deform
the object, the concept of WYSIWYF (what you see is what you
feel). We believe such an integration will be an essential
enhancement to the next generation shape design environment.
