Summary:碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 工業設計技術研究所 === 84 ===   The subject of this study aims at sacred furniture at Matsu temple and Lungshan temple. The purpose is to explore the elements and the spirits of religions and living culture in four aspects. They are humanity, sacred behaviours, sacred space and sacred furniture. By the study, to explore the original Taiwan living culture and to discuss the characteristics of vernacular design Firstly, to realize humanity, capentary overview, and folk religion characteristics of of Lu-Kang by literature review, and to inspect literature records by visitings and interviews. Secondly, to explore space layout, catagories, decorative subjects and purposes of sacred furniture. Finally, to realize the relationships between sacred furnitures and sacred behaviours and to realize the overview of manufacturing industry of sacred furniture of Lu-Kang.   The Results of the study can be concluded into five points: (1) The nature and culture backgrounds of Lu-Kang show that the decorative subjects of furniture and the carpentary techniques are oriented from Cheun-Chew, but decorative subjects now have varied styles because affected by Japanese and western culture. (2) Because of different gods and fifferent religious ritual, Lu-Kang sacred furnitures have varied catagories and decorative subjects. (3) The sapce layouts of Matsu and Lu-Kang temple are around the god chief and are set in symmetry and radiate arrangement. (4) The prayers have positive opinions on sacred furnitures, but they are strange about the meanings and backgrounds of decorations. (5) According to investigations, Lu-Kang''s sacred furniture industry is declining, changing of econorny type, fading away of craftsmen, and finding no inheritors of crafts are the main reasons. The results of this study can be the reference of relatedresearches and can be the database of related research subjects.
