In this study, thepharmacokinetics and bioavailability of Baicalein in rabbits were evaluated. A simple high performance liquid chromatographic method was developed forthe determination of Baicalein in plasma sample. The pharmacokinetics of Baicalein in the rabbits after intravenous bolusadministration of various doses (2,10 and 50 mg/kg) were well described bya two compartment model. The mean biological half-lives was 71 mins . Theresults also indicated that the pharmacokinetics of Baicalein after I.V.adminstration are linear over the 2-50 mg/kg dose range . The bioavailabilityof Baicalein in rabbits after I.M. administered of 50 mg/kg dose was 68%.However , after oral administered 250 mg/kg dose of same preparation, thebioavailability was only about 29%, it indicated that Baicalein was poorlyabsorbed from the GI tract in rabbits .
