Questionnaires survey method was used to collect data in order to answer the following research questions: 1. What are the individual characteristics and education background of bibliographic instruction librarians of university libraries in Taiwan. 2. How and where did the bibliographic instruction librarians get their related education and training ? 3. What kind of instructional methods and resources of instructional content are used by bibliographic instruction librarians now ? 4. Do bibliographic instruction librarians think that they have enough skills to handle the bibliographic instruction activities ? How should they improve their work-related knowledge and skills ? 5. How do the librarians feel about their bibliographic instruction activities ? 6. What''s the relationship between librarians'' experience, librarians'' skills and other variables (such as job performance etc.) ? A total of 144 questionnaires were mailed to bibliographic instruction librarians in university libraries. Data analysis was completed by using computerized statistical software (SPSS), the major findings of the study include: 1. Nearly 40% of the respondents , who are in charge of bibliographic instruction activities are reference librarians. 2. Library tour is the most used bibliographic instruction method in university libraries. 3. Attending seminars and conference is thought to be the most helpful way to get work -related knowledge and skills. 4. 90% of the respondents think that library schools should take the main responsibility of training bibliographic instruction librarians.
