| Summary: | 碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 管理科學研究所 === 85 === This paper examines a systematic view to measure the operating performance of public library in Taiwan by Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA). Attention was focused on three stages based on the process of this paper: (1) Describing the public library environment and Identirying the problems of this paper, (2) Identifying the input and output factors and selecting appropriate DEA models, (3) Analyzing and explaining the outcome of this paper.
This paper is divided into three analysis parts. The first part uses CCR and Cross Efficiency model to measure the relative efficiency of 22 prefectures public library in 1994. The second part is to measure the relative efficiency change of 22 prefectures public library in Taiwan moved forwards of backwards between 1992 and 1994. In final part, this paper examines whether the variables of area, population and education can influence the performance of Public Library.
In addition to measuring efficiency, this paper also proposes useful information for generating directions for making improvements.
