碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 農業經濟學系 === 85 === Analysis of Privatization forTaiwan Fruits and Vegetable Wholesale MarketsAbstract This paper attempts to analyze both the advantage and disadvantage of privatization for Taiwan fruits and vegetable wholesale markets. Institutional economics and principal-agent theory are used to analyze the privatization problems of Taiwan wholesale markets. Questionnaire survey and factor analysis are also used to facilitate this research project. Our major findings are that privatization would improve the morale of the wholesale markets employees and to increase the market competition. Moreover, the empirical results show that there are no significant effects between public and private wholesale markets toward the challenges of privatization in the near future. This study concludes that a carefully designed privatization program for Taiwan shall be accepted by all parties with reasonable feasibility. The schedule, scope and approach of the privatization plans are analyzed with the questionnaire-surveyed results. Finally, the barriers of privatization are also discussed from various aspects of the institutional reform proposals.Key words: fruits and vegetable wholesale markets, institutional economics, principle-agent theory, privatization.
