By studying what reasons and keyfactors influences the land-use model in thisstructure of space, we can then use them as tools toform this kind of space, and make the livingenvironments better. In the Chin-Dynasty, people built flexural roadswhich can be named traditional-alleyway to make uptheir living space. And then the Japanese dominated,they built straight roads for cars, and also formedthe blocks in Tainan. On the space-structure of theseblocks, the character of land- use is that people liveblock-inner, and consume block- surrounding. However retail activities along the streetssurround the block are very active in CBD of Tainan,but people living block-inner are not disturbed byunpleased noise of traffic and shopping people. Thiskind of land-use model forms naturally. The main contents of the thesis include as follow:1.Examine the development of city activities, and question to the people living in the selected block to understand how the residential-commercial blocks formed. Then we know that the form of roads and scale- cognition for residents are the important factors.2. Examine the space structure and land use model, and analysis the advantages and issues of the blocks in order to meet the needs of the development in the future.3.Following the conclusion below, propose the planning guide lines and criteria of residential and commercial mixed use for the selected block, including the plan of land-use control, space-designing principles, building controls, expedient of encouraging.
