Using predictive instantaneous current algorithm and voltage control scheme, a boost-type AC-DC converter draws sinusoidal and in phase current from line source. A dual digital closed-loop control scheme is adopted to solve the problem of the inverter output voltage fluctuation due to load variation. The regulation of the inverter output voltage is less than 1% by using the designed controller. The detailed analysis of the unity power factor converter and inverter is described first. Then, the designed guides of their controllers are derived. Finally, the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed converter and inverter have been demostrated on a 500 watt prototype developed.
