Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中央大學 === 土木工程學系 === 85 === Structures may be failure or damaged from reciprocating loading of strongearthquakes because of its demands for strength and energy dissipation capacities are inadequate. Lessons learned from 1994 Nothridge earthquake in US and 1995 Kobe earthquake in Japan have indicated the structures those were designed according to the old seismic design provisions need to be upgraded to prevent them from severe seismic shocks. Many researchers have proposed different procedures for upgrading thestructure from seismic damage. The procedures are usually required to find out the weakest elements in the system to be strengthened. After the selected elements are modified or new elements are added, structural analyses are required to verify the seismic resistant capacity of the re-strengthenedstructures are adequate. In most cases, the re-strengthening procedures require iterative processes and are time-consuming. In this study, an optimization procedure for re-strengthening weakstructures using TADAS devices are proposed. The optimization techniques are used to select the dimensions and the numbers of TADAS device. Nonlinear dynamic analyses are ten performed to verify the adequacy of seismic resistant capacity of the upgraded structures.
