One of the major problems may be the inconvenient environment of transferring facilities among the PTS''s. At the completion of High Speed Rail (HSR) in the west corridor of Taiwan, whether the connections between the PTS and HSR appropriately may remind government agencies of cautiously planning and designing integrated operational strategies among transportation systems to improve efficiency and to serve users better. The primary purpose of the research is to integrate various transportation systems by way of scheduling and proposed operational strategies to minimize system users'' transfer time and/or the operators'' cost. The study evaluates waiting times at different levels of headway by using deterministic arrival/departure time patterns of PTS at first. The probabilistic arrival/departure time patterns are also selected to test the proposed models in terms of transportation system transferring time and operator cost. Through the coordination of headway among various transportation systems, system operators may design appropriate operational strategy and system users may adjust themselves to fit the schedule and minimize their transferring time. For the purpose of testing an illustrating the proposed intermodal integration, the scope of the study includes the of High Speed Rail System, the Blue Line of TaoYuan Rapid Transit System, and relevant feeder bus systems at stations. Various scenarios are prescribed as well, including the optimization on scheduling of the rapid transit system itself, of both the HSR the rapid transit system, of the rapid transit systems associated with its feeder bus systems, and of the total system. For each scenario, an integrated scheduling model for the selected public transportation systems is formulated. Some scenarios are calibrated and analyzed with time value and tested with sensitivity analysis. It is concluded that the proposed models be feasible and integrated.
