specific student chara-cteristics and cooperative learning model
on engineering drawing. The goal was to provide suggestions to
improve the teaching.The subjects for this study were 90
students enrolled in the department of mechanical engineering of
the Affiliated Industuial Vocational High School of National
Chunghua University of Educational. There were 30 students in
field-independent and field-independent group, 28 students in
field-independent and field-dependent group,and 32 students in
field dependent and field-dependent group. The experimental
design for this study was in quasi-experimental pretest-posttest
format. The instruments consisted of demographic survey.
cognitive style test, spatial agility test,engineering drawing
achievement pretest/posttest, computer attitude inventory,
engineering drawing attitude inventory, and Computer Assisted
Learning(CAL) software. The statistic procedures employed for
analyzing experimental date and testing the research hypotheses
were One-way MANOVA and MANCOVA.The results of analysis were
described briefly as follows:1. The field-dependent students of
the cognitive style did have significantly higher performance in
engineering drawnig attitude on the posttest.2. The students who
had lower spatial ability did have significantly higher
performance in engineering drawing attitude on the posttest.3.
The students who had not learning experience in computer did
have singnificantly higher performance of engineering drawing
achievement and lower performance of engineering drawing
attitude in the posttest.4. The students who had three mouths or
more in computers learning experience did have significantly
higher performance of engineering drawing attitude in the
posttest.5. The students who owned personal computer did have
significantly higher performance in engineering drawing attitude
on the posttest.6. The students who had experienced computer
assisted instruction software did have significantly higher
performance in engineering drawing achievement and attitude on
the posttest.7. The students who had experienced network
utilities did have significantly higher performance in
engineering drawing achievement and attitude on the posttest.8.
The students who had used networks to acquire new knowledge did
have significantly higher performance in engineering drawing
attitude on the posttest.9. The various learning methods of
cooperative learning modeland computer assisted learning could
increase engineering drawing performance in terms of learning
