First, it presented the methods and effects of resolving the obstacles of teaching through working together by researcher and teacher. Second, it investigated: (1) How did a teacher improve student'''' "participating in group discussion" and "helping mutually among the group members"? (2) What are the aspects and affecting factors of students'''' presentation in "participating in group discussion" and "helping mutually among the group members"? This study was based on the spirit and framework of action research, and a qualitative research method was adopted to gather and analyze the data. One physical science teacher who has six years''''experience in teaching and one of his eighth-grade class took part in this study. In order to understand the aspects and affecting factors of students''''"participating in group discussion" and "helping mutually among the group members",one of seven groups in this class had been investigated intensively. The results of this study indicated that the major obstacles of the teacher were in preparing the teaching instrument, and designing teaching activities. To prepare teaching instrument effectively, the most efficient way was to ask for students'''' help. As for the design of teaching activites, we had tried:designed by the researcher,designed by the teacher, working together to design, and adopting other teacher''''s teaching activities.
