The microwave digestion along with atomic absorption analysisappeared that the deviation of the recovery was less than 10%, which based theanalytical result of the NRCC/BCSS-1 marine sediments certified referencematerial. Results of five cruises'investigations of the vertical DMn distribution at astation in the southern Okinawa Trough, it appeared a persistent mid-depth maximum concentration 5-8 nM of DMn with the peak at about 800 m. The mid-depthmaximums also along with a potential density at 27.1-27.2, which implied the intermediate DMn maximum possibly associated with the lateral diffusion andadvection pathway. According to the deference between total manganese(TMn) and chelex-100 extractable manganese(C-100Mn), it represents that the concentration ofC-100Mn is small that the TMn on shelf region, but in the deep sea region theC-100Mn is almost equal to the TMn, especially in the middle layer water.
