Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 國際企業學系 === 85 === This thesis attempts to explore the transfer and absorption processes -the context of cross-border business operation of technology / knowledge. The purpose of this thesis is to explore how a firm transfers its technology and knowledge systems from the headquater to the subsidiaries. Research issues under this broad research inquiry include the nature of the transfer process, the absorption and diffusion processes of transferred knowledge as well as what contingent factors affecting these processes are. While we recognize the exploratory nature of this research issue, we adopt a qualitative, multiple-case method and select three typical electronic companies who currently setup production subsidiaries in the sane area of mainland china as the scope of empirical investigation. After an intensive field work on these three companies, we epitomize two types of transfer mechanisms (''''''''adaptive'''''''' and ''''''''participative'''''''') and three types of diffusion mechanisms (''''''''marketing'''''''', ''''''''improving'''''''' and ''''''''modifying''''''''). Furthermore, thOne is the pressure from the industry environment and the other one is the philosophy of human resource management of the company. Several propositions are furnished based on a comprehensive justification on fieldwork observation. Finally, practical suggestions concering cross-border management on technology / knowledge transfer and absorption processes are discussed.
