碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 電機工程學系 === 85 === The wireless local area network (WLAN) is becoming very popular in recent year s.In 1990, the IEEE 802.11 committee has defined a draft of wireless standard for 2.4GHz ISM band wireless network. The IEEE 802.11 standard has three physi cal media options: direct-sequence spread spectrum, frequency hopping and infr ared light.. The media access method of this standard is using carrier sense m ultiple access with collision avoidance (CSMA/CA).In this thesis, we will intr oduce the IEEE 802.11 draft standard and implement this standard by writing th e firmware embedded in theprototype network card. Am79C930 is the MAC controll er of this wireless card. Its embedded core is compatible with Intel 80188 It provides necessary physical circuits for the implementation of network protoco l. Our firmware utilizes these units to approach the specifications of wireles s standard. Firmware also controls the IF and RF module. uC/OS is a another im portant topic in this thesis. uC/ OS is a micro kernel used for real-time embed ded system. It provides an operating system running on the wireless network ca rd. The aim of this thesis is to build a firmware prototype We will explain th e developing process of firmware program.
