First, a novel converterthat improves current and torque responses is proposed. At low speed, the current waveform is shaped to minimize the torque ripple. At high speed, the adjustment of the commutation angle is used to obtainmaximum torque. In addition, to achieve a good response and loaddisturbance, a mixed sliding and PI controller is designed by using MC68020 microprocessor. Finally, experimental results can validatethe simulated waveforms. This thesis provides a new direction to designa switched reluctance drive system.
