This photovoltaic energy storage system is composed of the photovoltaic modules, charger, batteries, dc chopper, voltage source inverter and digital signal processor. A new maximum power point tracker based on the gradient method is proposed to improve the energy conversion efficiency. Then, the inverter based on the voltage space vectors pulse-width modulation is designed to minimize the current harmonic distortion. The constant V/F algorithm is used to control the speed of an induction motor. A digital signal processor is used to implement the maximum power point tracking algorithm and voltage space vectors pulse-width modulation. The simulation and experimental results show that maximum power point tracker proposed in this paper has the maximum power output and is robust to the external disturbances.
