At first, a low-noise fan is construted according to the model proposed by the previous report. Then, the appropriate environment and procedure are set up to perform the simultaneous noise and performance measurement of this fan. Thereafter, a parametric study on the resonator is carried out to obtain the understanding of the correspoding influences caused by the geometric variations of resonator. The parameters considered here include the resonator geometry(number and orientation of open sections) and cut-off angle. The experimental results show thow that the maximum flow-rate and noise level decrease as the cut-off angle increases, while the static pressure efficiency does not change. Also, the resonator can reduce the noise level on fundamental frequency of F.C. centrifugal fan, especially at its high volume flow-rate. The maximum noise reduction can be as high as 10 db which is obtained at 1500 rpm.
