碩士 === 淡江大學 === 資訊工程學系 === 85 === The combination of WWW and Internet not only changes the way to transmit information on networks but also makes network application much more easily.There are a huge amount of various databases in Internet. However the types of queries for remote databases are very limited on WWW, namely, keywords search or fixed format query. The users of such kinds of queries have to pay extra hard work to extract useful information from the computed results. This motivates us to provide a query generator system with which an user without any knowledge of database can also precisely describe what information (query) he needs. The goal of this paper is to introduce a design and implementation of a user-friendly remote database query generator system. Based on the WWW browser for hyper text and CGI external programs , we provide an interface to collect the information needed from any user . Using the informal input information , we generate an SQL query for the user and then send the query to the remote database server. After getting information back from remote database server, again we use the WWW browser to show the results.
