The same findings as previous studies were again observed in the present research, such as the new sesquiteipenoid, peculiaroxide, and a series of 2, 3-secoaromadendrane-type compounds. In addition, two new fusicoccane- type diterpenoids were isolated and identified from this liverwort species. The first novel component is named isofusicoccantriepoxide(41), which possesses a methyl-rearranged fusicoccane skeleton. The other new one, named fusicoccanin(44), is a highly oxygenated diterpenoid of fusicoccane-type. New structures were elucidated mainly on the basis of various NMR spectral data. The Taiwanese liverwort Plagiochila peculiaris biosynthesizes not only 2, 3-secoaromadendrane-type sesquiterpenoids, but also fusicoccane-type diterpenoids as its major components.
