| Summary: | 碩士 === 淡江大學 === 建築學系 === 85 === This research takes a look in depth in ancient Wall City with understanding the significance fromt he locals'' point of view, the impacts of modernization, and the fluence of government''s policy. In order to understand the resident''s viewpoint, examination of pratical utilization and abshative acknowledgement of dimensions was carried out by way of survey-ying and interviewing with the locals. Because conflicts occured between different people''s perspectives, this research was done on the gound of multiple of reading Symbology.
The dimensional significance of the wall city in research is elaborated from the aspects of the locals, the points of view from this community. The government policy and any related proposals are also reviewed to show their contribution to forming this ideology in the hope that different perspectives from both sides, government and local, can be seen.
By collecting the information from interviewees and analyzing any relevant date, this traditional small town has two different aspects in terms of the elaboration of dimensional significance, and they are the practical utilization of space and abstractive acknowledgement of dimensions. On the practical utilization of space, the Wall City has a dimensional significance with the field extensions of dividing this city to inner and outer parts, and the symbolicalness of geography with the following proposals:
1.Some related topics which influence the percption of this town are dependancy of rapid growing transportation system, conficts in cultural values, preservation of this historic site, the utilization of space and the acknowledgement of dimensions.
2.From the aspects of city development and preservation, the perception of modern city has some conflicts and a great impact on preserving this small town. The architectural asymmetry in modern transportation and this wall city conflicts each other. On the other hand, the new life style yet goes side by side with the modern world. These conflicts come between the government, the local resident, and society. In a word, conflicts and impact are always there between different entities.
