碩士 === 大同工學院 === 資訊工程學系 === 85 === The MPEG-2 based video transport over ATM network has an importantproblem-network jitters, in video on demand(VoD) system. Although ATMForum has established a sub-group to examine issues associated with thisproblem, a more in-depth study of network jitters and its relationshipwith video quality is necessary. The objective of this thesis is to providean analysis of ATM adaptation layer-5(AAL-5) based MPEG-2 packet transport over the ATM network. The assumption is that the MPEG-2 bit rate is keptconstant. The results from this analysis is the simulation of network jittersand the determination of decoder buffer size such that MPEG-2 video can beplayed smoothly at the receiver end.
