Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 電機工程學系 === 86 === When MPEG-coded video streams are sent to the ATM network as avariable-bit-rate (VBR) traffic, the cell delay variation (CDV, orjitter) in the ATM network needs to be bounded for the smoothplay-out of the video at the destination. Congestion control at thecell level can not guarantee the required CDV bound if we want toimprove the multiplexing gain. In this thesis, we propose a CDV control mechanism at the burst(video frame) level. It exploits the temporal structure of theMPEG- coded video sequence. This mechanism consists of two parts:The first part is a three-way coordination protocol to align framestarting times. The second Part is the multirate Virtual Clockalgorithm to schedule the service order of cells from differentvideo streams. With this multirate control mechanism, each MPEGvideo stream not only is guaranteed a low jitter bound, but also alow delay bound and a small buffer requirement. The multiplexinggain is also higher than peak rate allocation.
