By using this method, we can examine buildings with a soft-weak story which can be caused by raising the height of the first story or designing the buildings with an improper way. The study, basically, uses the ETABS programs to design structures and utilizes the nonlinear analytical program DRAIN-2D+ to check the ultimate story shear base on the requirement of the building code.In the study, the results show that the ultimate story shear of buildings, based on the Japanese method, can not display the effect of the weak story. But using the method, which are suggested by this paper, can show the lesser values of the ultimate first story shear as we expect. In addition, considering the walls in structures, the plastic hinge will happen in columns with the stories above second floor.
