Summary: | 碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 圖書資訊學系 === 86 === One of the researcher''s needs is to keep up with the
current development of his research interests. To respond
this need, librarians provide the service of selective
dissemination of information (SDI). This service can let
researchers keep in contact with the newest information
without doing the tedious searching works by themselves
periodically.
Unfortunately, the SDI service can only serve very limited
readers due to the hard labor and time-consuming. Therefore,
how to take advantage of new technology to conquer this
kind of limit and to provide more people the SDI service
becomes an important research topic.
Firstly, I introduce the definition, the aim, the
history development, the relevant literatures, and the
operation patterns of traditional SDI service.
Secondly, an introduction of the current retrieval
technologies on Web including the search engines, the meta
search engines, and information filter systems is provided.
This is followed by a comparison between these new
technologies and the needs for SDI.
Lastly, a prototype system is produced for the possible
future development of the automatic SDI service.
