The Government Information Office, Executive Yuan, the authority concerned, may influence the cable system companies'' operations when setting the pricing regulations for the cable industry. With the country''s lack of certain researches or reference on pricing strategy of cable TV, it is extremely diffcult for the authority to set a reasonable price. Based on the described situation abovethis research is targeted to 1. Discuss the major factors affecting the cable TV price, 2.Estableish a cable TV pricing model in Taiwan, 3.Come up with some recommendations on pricing strategy and related policies. The demographic areas covered in this research are each county in Taiwan, Kaohsiung city, Taipei city, and Kin-men county. The data of 1996 are used for analysis and the cable system companies being researched, totaling to 149, are limited to those registered in the Government Information Office, Executive Yuan. The content of this research includes: 1. The recap of related articles: CableTV and its development in Taiwan, pricing theory of public sector, and foreignarticles on cable TV, 2. The analysis of the cable system companies in Taiwan:characteristics, competitiveness and profit/loss, 3. The establishment of cable TV pricing model and parameter setting : single function and multiple functions, 4.A real example of cable TV pricing and estimation of flexible pricing.
