Since the flow condition during the process has great effect onthe quality of casting, the prediction of the flow condition is veryimportant to the mold design. In this paper, two- and three-dimensionalmodels are built to simulate the filling process by combining theconserved scalar method with the VOF method. The finite differencemethod is used to solve the flow problems. From the computationalresults, the proposed models require much less computing time thaneither the the conserved scalar method or the VOF method. By comparingwith other works, the results are also very close to theirs. Theseresults can prove that the models are able to predict the flow conditionof filling process correctly and efficiently.
