In this research the author looks into the living culture and the history of craft arts . Some surgestions are proposed with the reference to the designing of tableware, and also in other related researches in social sciences. This research has employed three methods mainly:1.Data analysis 2.Interviews with scholars and craftsmen 3.Color measurement of the objectsThe results of this research are outlined as follows:Ⅰ.The color trend of the ceramic bowls in TaiwanIn the aspect of HUE, there has been little change in the application of Red, Orange and Yellowish Green. They seem to be popular all the time. Nevertheless, there has been less and less application of Yellow and Bluish purple. The use of neutral has increased evidently. The lowering of chroma indicates the color has become softer and softer.Ⅱ.The factors that affect the color application of Taiwanese tableware1. The raw materialsIt includes the source of material, the categories of fuel and the ingredients of glaze.2. The processing technologyThe method of glaze processing and kiln technology have more influence over the color application of the finished work.3. Economical factors and social custom4. Esthetical elements5. Cultural influences from other areasThe influences from China and Japan are stronger than those from other areas. Ⅲ.The coloring features of the ceramic bowis in different areas of TaiwanAccording to the results of the small division research, the colors of the ceramic bowls in northern Taiwan are richer. So the whiteness of the ceramic bowls in central Taiwan is comparatively low. All tones have been used except B. and V.In southern Taiwan, Yellow and Orange of VP have been mostly used. In general, the color of the ceramic bowls in northern Taiwan is the richest.
