Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 工業設計學系 === 86 === The purpose of this research is to investigate the color of
Taiwanese tableware since the period of Japanese occupation,
using ceramic bowls as an example. In this research the author
looks into the living culture and the history of craft arts .
Some surgestions are proposed with the reference to the
designing of tableware, and also in other related researches in
social sciences. This research has employed three methods
mainly:1.Data analysis 2.Interviews with scholars and craftsmen
3.Color measurement of the objectsThe results of this research
are outlined as follows:Ⅰ.The color trend of the ceramic bowls
in TaiwanIn the aspect of HUE, there has been little change in
the application of Red, Orange and Yellowish Green. They seem to
be popular all the time. Nevertheless, there has been less and
less application of Yellow and Bluish purple. The use of neutral
has increased evidently. In the past thirty years the HUE which
has been increasingly used also includes Purple and Reddish
Purple. As a whole, except for neutral, the application of
different hues has gradually become balanced. Regarding VALUE,
low value has been In sum, the color range of Taiwanese ceramic
bowls has become wider. The heightening of value indicates the
increase of whiteness. The lowering of chroma indicates the
color has become softer and softer.Ⅱ.The factors that affect
the color application of Taiwanese tableware1. The raw
materialsIt includes the source of material, the categories of
fuel and the ingredients of glaze.2. The processing
technologyThe method of glaze processing and kiln technology
have more influence over the color application of the finished
work.3. Economical factors and social custom4. Esthetical
elements5. Cultural influences from other areasThe influences
from China and Japan are stronger than those from other areas.
Ⅲ.The coloring features of the ceramic bowis in different areas
of TaiwanAccording to the results of the small division
research, the colors of the ceramic bowls in northern Taiwan
are richer. Red, Orange and Yellow have been mostly used. Green
and Bluish Purple rank the second. The tone varies a lot. Among
neutral, high value N9 has been mostly used.V has seldom been
used. The other tones have been used abundantly.Yellow, Orange
and Bluish Purple are the main colors used in central part of
Taiwan. There has been no evidence that neural N9 has been used.
So the whiteness of the ceramic bowls in central Taiwan is
comparatively low. All tones have been used except B. and V.In
southern Taiwan, Yellow and Orange of VP have been mostly used.
In general, the color of the ceramic bowls in northern Taiwan is
the richest. The further south it goes, the smaller the range of
the color and the less variety the tone.Ⅳ.The principle of
color planning in Taiwanese ceramic bowls1. The size of shape:
Basically there is no evident correlation between the color
planning and the size of shape. 2. The rim of bowl: The main
color of the rim includes S and B bluish purple.3. The outer and
inner walls of bowls: Basically there is not much difference
between the outer and the inner walls of the bowls. The main
colors of both of them include VP Orange, VP Yellow, VP
Yellowish green and Blue. Neutral white porcelain has been the
main stream in the past thirty years.4. The foot of bowl: The
main colors of the foot of bowl includes Bluish Purple , Red,
Gray and Golden. A variety of tones are used for the foot
includes VP, P, S, Dp and L. 5. The color of the decoration has
varieties and is natural. There is an abundant use of Yellow,
Orange, Green, Red and Bluish Purple. In the aspect of tone,
except for V, all tones have been used frequently.
