When the dual CPU personal computer is used as server, the capacity of the dual CPU can be fully used by help of the Windows NT operation system. If the dual CPU is used in large numerical simulation, it is necessary to rewrite the code to use the capacity of the dual CPU by the help of some special program library. In this paper, we plan to develop parallel finite element code in multipleCPU personal computer to reduce the computation time in large engineering simulation problems. The code will be written by VC++ computer language. Because we has been bought dual CPU Pentium Pro personal computer before, this paper will use this computer system to execute parallel finite element code. The multithread capacity embedded in the Windows NT will be used to write the parallel computation code. The numerical testing show that the average of speed up is 1.74 for dual CPU Pentium Pro personal computer. If quad CPU system or 8 CPU system is available in the future, it will be used in the numerical test and the speed up will be higher than 1.74. Parallel finite element design not only used the capacity of the dual CPU but also substitute personal computer to high level workstation. So it will get very high performance price ratio.
