Summary:碩士 === 國立新竹師範學院 === 國民教育研究所 === 86 === Abstract The purpose of this study was to explore the role and the function of inservice institute--local teacher center in inservice education. Both literature review and interview were major methodology used in this study. Based on the results , six suggestions were proposed.1. Local teacher centers are informal institutes now. By establishing laws , local teacher centers can get their formal statue.2. Local teacher centers should cooperate with other educational institutes to provide techers with more service.3. The activities held by local teacher center should be arranged carefully to meet teachers* needs. Local teacher centers also need to evaluate what teachers have learned after participating in these activities.4. Local teacher centers should often contact with other inservice institutes. By visiting and interviewing other teacher centers , local teacher center can get a lot of information from them.5. Local teacher can use telephones, fax, and network to communicate with teachers directly.6. Local teacher centers should look for more external resources. Experts or professors of higher education institutes can give teachers and local teacher center some advices.
