Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中山大學 === 海洋生物研究所 === 86 === The objective of this research was to study the system dynamics of milkfish (Chanos chanos) culture in the traditional shallow-water pond of Taiwan. The milkfish pond system is composed of limited trophic components and operated by simple food chains. It could be viewed as a complete and fairly closed ecological system. Benthic algae served as the primary producer and the major food source for the stock. Human efforts and supplemental feeds were limited. Trophic components involved were milkfish, zooplankton, phytoplankton, chiro-nomid larvae, benthic algae, supplemental feed and detritus. The basic model was originated from Polovina & Ow. And the computer model (Ecopath II) was provided by International Center for Living Aquatic Resources Management (ICLARM). Results of the simulation showed that flows of material / energy within the system were stable and matched the real situation. All components ended up sinking as detritus in the system, except for fish yield. The utili-zation of total energy, however, had not yet reached its maximum use. Possible ways of increasing the production of the system are proposed. The characteris-tics of the milkfish pond system were also defined in terms of theory of eco- logical system analysis. Theresults may be used for comparison with other relevant Ecopath system.-1 aEcological system analysis of saline milkfish pond
