Study Of Frequency Stabilization Of A ND:YAG Laser Using A High Finesse Cavity

碩士 === 國立清華大學 === 物理學系 === 86 === In this thesis, we use Pound-Drever method to stablize a diode pumped monolithic (NPRO) Nd: YAG laser to a Zerodur galss Fabry-Perot cavity. The cavity has a finesses of approximately 50000 and a linewidth of 17 kHz. In order to reduce the technical noise, the Fab...

The cavity has a finesses of approximately 50000 and a linewidth of 17 kHz. In order to reduce the technical noise, the Fabry-Prerot cavity is suspended with magneic damping in a vacuum vessel (<10-5 torr). By estimation, it is possible to reduce the laser linewidth to as low as 1 mHz. Due to the contamination of the suspended cavity, we use another cavity system for the experiment. The preliminary results show that the laser can be locked to the cavity with a stability of 30 Hz at 1 sec integration time. Further improvements will be carried out in the future.
