A design under multipath time-varying fading channels with stochastic tap coefficients is concidered. Least squares estimation methods are used to estimate the mean and variance of the stochastic tap coefficeients. Based on these estimated statistical characteristics, an optimal MMSE equalizatin filter under multipath time-varying fading channels is obtained. The proposed optimal equalizer is able to combat both slow and fast fading channeis. Finally, owe simulation examples are given to illustrate the superior performance of the proposed design method.
