Kingmen Area) are
reviewed in the present study. Eighteen species in 6 genera were recorded from
Taiwan. They are Lychnuris Dejean (5 species), Diaphanes
Motschulsky (3 species),
Lamprigera Motschulsky (1 species), Pristolycus Gorham (1 species), Lucidina
Gorham (2 species), and Vesta Laporte (5 species). All the
known species are revised
and three new species, Lychnuris projecta n. sp., Diaphanes
flavilateralis n. sp. and
D. nubilis n. sp., are described. Vesta chevrolati
scutellumnigrum Olivier is corrected
and elevated from Vesta chevrolati var. scutello nigro Olivier,
and two names, V.
scutellonigra Okada and Vesta formosana Pic are regarded as
objective and subjective
syoonyms of this species respectively. Species name of Lamprophorus yunnanus
Fairmaire is changed as Lamprigera yunnana. Pyrocoelia lampyroides Olivier is
transferred to Diaphanes. Lectotypes are designated for the
following 9 species:
Lychnuris praetexta (Olivier), L. sanguiniventer (Olivier),
Diaphanes citrinus Olivier,
D. lampyroides (Olivier), D. formosus Olivier, Lucidina accensa Gorham,
Lamprigera yunnana (Fairmaire), Vesta chevrolati scutellumnigrum Olivier and V.
impressicollis Fairmaire. Phenology and geographical
distributions of each species in
Taiwan are investigated. Keys to the genera, the males, and the
known females of
Lampyrinae in Taiwan are also provided.
